In prayer not long ago I saw that there are many who have been in a long wilderness season of wandering. They have felt stuck, out of place and many have lost their vision for where God was leading them. This wandering season has been a digging season where they have been digging deeper than ever before in search of what is theirs. Digging deep into the Spirit in prayer and deep heart crys. However in the moment seems to be useless, tiresome, and empty. But the wandering has actually been producing deep trenches in the Spirit.
Is I continued in prayer the Lord spoke this phrase to me, “come out of the valley of succoth.” I actually had no idea what I was hearing so I looked up this Valley of Succoth and sure enough I found that the word Succoth means a temporary dwelling place like booths or tents. The valley of succoth was the valley the Isrealites were dwelling in after leaving Egypt. Through more study I found that there is a week long Jewish celebration called Succoth or Sukkot, otherwise might be known as the ‘feast of tabernacles.’ This is the harvest festival commemorating the shelter of the Israelites during their 40 years in the desert.
I began to see that God was saying this season of wilderness is temporary. It’s not a place we were ever meant to be permanently. A new season is about to break forth for those who have been wandering, searching and digging to what seems no avail. The promise comes after the wilderness, the joy after the season of tears.
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. Psalm 126:5
The lyrics to an old song began ringing in my head, ” thou has turned my mourning into dancing for thee, thou has turned down my sackcloth (succoth).” Perhaps in the sense of this season, He is turning down or removing the succoth.
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
psalm 30:11
This is the time that the earth will begin to shake and the deep seeded inheritances of the saints from the past will begin to break forth. The wandering and digging has actually been excavating in the Spirit to bring forth a blessing that has been laid up from the past. It will begin to shake under the prayers of the ones who are calling forth the inheritance of those who planted deeply in the past. There are many untapped wells just waiting to be opened. I saw that many are just the tip of a shovel away from breaking through.
I saw golden shovels in the hands of the prayer warriors, of those who are digging deeply into the spirit. The ones who’ve been searching in prayer and calling forth that inheritance of their forefathers. I saw gold veins in the earth, these are the inheritance laid up from the saints of the past. And these ones who’ve been digging, searching, toiling and wandering are about to hit the vein of gold and glory!
Your labor has not been in vain but it has been taking you deeper into a place where you are ready to strike the vein. Began to call forth the inheritance laid up from saints past for now is the time when your vain toiling or so it would seem, produces a great harvest.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Then I began to see shock waves of glory going through the earth as these ones hit the gold veins. And as these golden veins were hit I saw them bursting forth from the earth like golden oil.
It was like all of a sudden those who were poor in spirit had suddenly hit it rich!
Be encouraged in your season of wilderness because it is working for you a far greater weight of glory than you could imagine. The wilderness has a purpose to produce a season of golden harvest in your life so that you might see the goodness of God.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
1 Peter 5:10
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 2 Corinthians 4:17
