To many times I’ve found myself complaining and comparing, frustrated by the fact that some people just don’t seem to pull their weight or step up to the plate. Oh, I probably enjoyed far too many pity parties over the silly topic and then I had an epiphany:
When God gives more, more is required so why am I complaining? I should be expecting to be doing more, pulling more weight, plowing more fields, picking more fruit!
Luke 12:48 For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

The very thing I’ve often times complained about is the very indicator that I’m living a life that if I remain faithful will produce fruit, more and more. So rather than complain when I have to “close up shop” when everyone else flies the coop, I should give thanks that I get to sow another seed. Rather than compare my level of commitment to others around me, I should be thankful that God has entrusted me.
He trusts me. That seems a simple enough statement but I never thought about it in this light before, God trusts me with His more!
He trusts me to show up. He trusts me to stick around. And further more since He entrusted it to me I have no right to complain or expect others to show up for what He called me to do.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you
Its true that sometimes there are people around who just don’t seem to pull their weight or do their job. And because they don’t contribute much others are having to pick up the slack. But think of it this way, when it comes time for promotion God is going to give it to the faithful!
2 Chronicles 15:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
It reminds me of my children, there have been so many occasions where they’ve been so bothered because they think something isn’t fair, as if I’m incapable of seeing the injustice they face. And it is in those times that they don’t know I do see, I do care! And if they are willing to do the work I’ve already got a blessing up my sleeve. But if they complain and make it difficult I won’t offer any support because I’m looking to bless those who are willing. God is looking to bless those who are willing, lets not miss our blessing over comparisons and complaints!
God is looking to bless those who are willing, lets not miss our blessing over comparisons and complaints.!
1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Another important point I must address is the one of maturity. There are just somethings I won’t entrust to my younger children because they’re not ready for that level of responsibility. Often times this reads as unfair to my older ones but they fail to see that while I expect more from them I also entrust more to them. They fail to recognize the that while their responsibility is greater the perimeters of freedom are greater too.
So we might find ourselves having to do more but we also get to do more too. We need to be able to recognize the responsibilities that go along with our maturity both physically and spiritually.

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

God is always wanting us to do greater. He wants to give us responsibilities, He wants to see us grow and prosper. Just like any proud and loving parent, God wants to see His children rise above pettiness. He wants to see us going above and beyond, because the more we do the greater he can bless us. And the greater the increase to the Kingdom through our faithful example.
John 14:12 Verily verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
John 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
Prov 31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
